Class Experience

In this Lyrical dance class, we will learn how to move about gracefully and freely as we learn a dance to the heartfelt song, "Dear Theodosia," from Hamilton! Lyrical dancing combines elements of Ballet, Modern, and Jazz, but no previous dance experience is needed for this class. If your Learner loves the music of Hamilton and likes to dance, then this is the perfect class for them!

This class is structured into three sections. First we will start with a follow-along Lyrical based warm-up where we will stretch our bodies and focus our minds. Then, it's time for a brief technique section where I will teach and cover movement that will be used in the dance. Lastly, it's time to learn our Lyrical dance to "Dear Theodosia!"

No prior dance experience is expected for this class (but if you have danced before, great!)

I will demonstrate all movement, breaking down every step so all students can be successful and have fun in class!

As a teacher, I aim to always create a warm and welcoming environment in my classes where all students have the opportunity to learn, grow and explore their inner creativity! Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything additional I can do to make your child more at ease in my classes.

Parental Guidance
Since Dance is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
Supply List
You should be in a space cleared from clutter and debris so it is safe to move about freely. Bring some water or a water bottle in case you get thirsty! Clothes that are comfortable to move in as well as dance shoes, socks or bare feet is fine.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
