*Be sure to check if class is AM or PM! Thanks! Calling all Hamilton fans! We will play some kid-friendly songs from the hit musical Hamilton together and get our groove on! Beginners and all abilities are welcome in this class. Our class will begin with a guided warm-up. We will then learn some basic dance moves from ballet, jazz, modern or hip-hop, depending on our songs that week. From there, students will join together and learn a group dance facilitated by the instructor. There will be lots of opportunity for self expression as we learn the dances. We will then have some fun with creative free dance and each child will have an opportunity to show a dance move or pose to the class if desired. We will end with a relaxing cool-down to a slower song. Each class will be different, because each dancer will bring unique moves to our class. There may be time for trivia and other fun games at the end of the class! Songs will vary each session, so be sure to check out future classes! Hope to see your dancer soon! *New policy for 2021 If your learner misses their enrolled class, they will be referred to view the class recording. Per Outschool policy, "Full refund available until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase (until class starts)." Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool! I am looking forward to bringing you classes about art, music, creative writing, dance, and yoga! I hope to bring the creative arts to you through fun, engaging, hands on experiences.
I have a master's degree in dance/ movement therapy from Antioch University, as well as a mental health counseling concentration. I am also a registered yoga instructor. I believe yoga & creative arts are a beautiful way to connect with others, as well as a wonderful way to express yourself. Through writing, art, music, dance and yoga, I hope to help kids explore their own unique creativity and have fun while doing it!
I have experience working with kids of all ages, from preschoolers to adolescents. I've taught yoga and creative dance to kids in school settings as well as yoga studios. Currently, I work in a psychiatric facility as a dance therapist and yoga teacher for teens and adults. I hold a dementia care specialist certification and bring music, art and dance to seniors with alzheimer's and dementia through various recreational activities. My other passion is bringing yoga and meditation to those struggling with addiction and supporting them as they begin the recovery process.
As a military wife I hope to offer support for military kids through classes about moving and connecting with other military kids. Our military family has moved 7 times! We love to travel and experience new places but we also know that there can be some stressful emotions when it comes to leaving a place you have grown to love. I hope to help kids see they are not alone, as well as learn practical skills when moving, meeting new friends and surviving the first weeks of a new school!
Currently I live in North Dakota with my husband and three kids. I enjoy all things Broadway (Greatest Showman, Hamilton and Encanto soundtracks are currently on repeat on our house right now!) I also love finding new places to hike and eat tacos. I hope to meet your student soon, see you in class!Reviews
