Halloween is a treat for writers who want to haunt their readers. In this spooky workshop I will explain the different elements of figurative language and why they are so important. Hyperboles, similes, onomatopoeia's and more! Figurative language provides the tools we need to express ourselves in a way that gets our message across, is interesting to read and fun to write. In this one class, students will learn what figurative language is, be provided with definitions, and plenty of opportunity to practice. Prior familiarity of figurative language is useful but not necessary. Each element will be introduced in a way that's easy to understand. This class is great for reluctant writers looking for encouragement, as well as for already enthusiastic writers looking for more tools.
