Halloween Virtual Party

Hello and welcome to my teacher profile. I'm Sheena, your amazing new Outschool teacher from Houston, Texas! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Health. I led an after-school program where I both taught and tutored K-12 students. During these early years in the classroom, I found my passion for working with children. I currently teach online English. Throughout the last few years, I have worked with students to help build their confidence to learn how to speak English. It’s difficult to learn another language and some of my students get frustrated and want to give up. I encourage them throughout the course and help guide them to be positive. This helps my students to feel confident in learning another language. My students leave my course wanting to continue to grow and have a positive mindset. 

We all have times when we feel like we will never be good enough, or we’re destined to fail. Some kids face more challenges and setbacks compared to other kids. This can be hard for students to feel confident within themselves. With my degree in Psychology and my experience with working with children, I understand the struggles students may face. I want to bring a positive growth mindset into my Outschool classroom. 


A few fun facts about myself, I am a cat lover and an animal lover. I have one cat named Pumpkin. Can you guess why her name is Pumpkin? You can learn more about that when you join one of my courses. I ran several half marathons, I have a passion for running and I enjoy the outdoors. I also love watching sports. I am a huge Texans football lover.
