💻 Learn to type the correct way and enjoy some Halloween fun! 🎃👻 This one-time class is a short introduction and practice session on correct typing technique to help to improve your typing skills for essays, lessons, stories, assignments, coding and more! In this one-time, Halloween-themed intro to keyboarding class, students will be introduced to the computer keyboard to learn touch typing, which is typing without looking. Students will learn the correct hand-position for touch typing (home row) and will have the opportunity to try typing all letter keys and many punctuation marks, utilizing all 10 fingers - all while completing Halloween-themed typing exercises with words and sentences related to common Halloween characters, topics, and themes! **NOTE: This one-time class is NOT intended to be a full comprehensive course in typing technique. Several learning sessions are required to truly build proper typing technique and stamina. This class is intended as a fun, seasonal themed “try it out” intro to typing. After completing this Halloween Typing class, learners are encouraged to enroll in a multi-day OR ongoing typing class with the Apples2Zippers organization to build their typing technique in a longer-term format. **WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CLASS: 🎃👻The typing practice website Typing.com will be used for this class. Learners will receive a temporary username/password at the start of class for use in this class session ONLY in Typing.com. Learners will complete a set of typing practice pages during class custom-made by Apples2Zippers that include a variety of Halloween themed words, sentences, short paragraphs, and Halloween Escape Room. 🎃👻 Students will have a 1 to 2 minute brain break every 5 - 7 minutes, in order for the teacher to give the students reinforcement of their skills and this will allow the students time to stretch and ask questions. 🎃👻During class, learners will have the chance to share about their favorite Halloween/Fall activities, costumes, movies, shows, etc. The class will also feature some Halloween trivia and puzzles to solve during typing breaks! **WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?: - Students with only a small amount of computer keyboard experience who want to learn the basics - Students who have learned typing technique in the past want to improve their skills and understanding - Students who want to learn to code but lack keyboarding skills. **REQUIRED READING, WRITING, and COMPUTER SKILLS: - Recognize all 26 letters of the English alphabet (lowercase and uppercase) - Understand that letters are combined to form words, and words are combined to form sentences - Understand basic sentence structure - starts with uppercase letter, spaces between words, ends with punctuation mark - NOTE: It is NOT necessary for learners to be able to fluently read every word or sentence shown to them in this class. **TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: - A laptop or desktop computer is REQUIRED for typing in this class. (No tablets, please!) Teacher will wait in the classroom for 10 minutes for students to arrive.

🍎Mrs. Lisa T. - Hello, my name is Mrs. Lisa and I'm an experienced educator with a diverse background. My areas of expertise and certification include Kindergarten through 6th grade teacher, 7th and 8th grade all four core areas, Gifted and Talented Teacher and Director of Education, Special Education Grades 4 through 12 specialist as well as building principal for PreK through 8th grade. During Covid shutdowns and quarantines I discovered that my students and I loved the online platform. I taught in a one to one school. Every student had a laptop as well as a school hotspot if their family asked for one. I chose not to do the minimum "office hours" as my school required. I felt this did not meet my students' needs. I ran an online classroom during regular school hours as well as recorded the class for those students who were unable to connect with us or needed to hear the lesson more than once. My experience as a principal resulted in greatly improved learning for all students. The gifted students improved as well as those with learning disabilities. I believe in high expectations for all. High expectations that are attainable
