Halloween STEM: Pumpkin Catapult Challenge
In this one time class students will be challenged to create a mini pumpkin catapult just in time for Halloween. This STEM challenge is sure to excite that young engineer eager to build using only a few basic household items.

In this one time class students will need the following materials: a spoon, rubber bands (5-10), popsicle sticks (5-6), a piece of candy to be launched (I use the candy corn pumpkins). At the beginning of class we will watch a short clip of someone using a catapult to launch a large pumpkin across a field. Students will then lay out the materials in front of them and will be challenged to use these items to create their very own launcher. They may only use these materials and they can talk...

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using materials that are consumable (candy) please make sure to use a candy that is safe to be used by your student. Students will also use popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Students should only use these items under supervision or as advised by parents.
