Class Experience

  • Drawing and coloring help kids enhance their fine motor skills by refining their hand-eye coordination and precision. As they work on intricate details, they improve their dexterity and control, which are crucial for various everyday tasks and activities.
  • Engaging in drawing and coloring boosts spatial reasoning abilities by teaching children to understand and manipulate shapes and sizes. This skill is essential for problem-solving and understanding how objects fit together in space.
  • Through art, kids develop objectivity by learning to evaluate their work and make adjustments. They gain the ability to view their creations from different perspectives, leading to improved critical thinking and a balanced approach to assessing their art.
  • Drawing and coloring foster visualization skills as children imagine and plan their artwork before putting it on paper. This practice enhances their ability to mentally picture objects and scenes, which is valuable for creative thinking and planning.
  • Art activities encourage self-discipline as kids focus on completing their projects and follow through with their creative vision. This process helps build perseverance and dedication, skills that are beneficial both in and out of the classroom.
  • Drawing and coloring promote creative problem-solving by challenging kids to find unique solutions for artistic challenges. They learn to approach problems from different angles and use their creativity to overcome obstacles and enhance their work.

Students will need either a sketchpad, or 5-10 sheets of drawing or printer paper. Pencils and erasers are a must. Coloring utensils can be crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers. A Sharpie marker is optional. Students can frame their artwork by stapling or taping it to a larger sheet of colored construction paper (also optional).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Please be aware that this class features Halloween-themed art, including drawings of monsters such as vampires, mummies, and Frankenstein’s Monster. While we aim to make the experience fun and engaging, the subject matter may be unsettling for some children. We encourage parents to consider their child's comfort with spooky content before enrolling. Our goal is to ensure a positive and enjoyable artistic experience for every student.
