In this class we'll learn how to make an awesome horror movie using your iPad/iPhone/camera and iMovie We'll talk about what makes horror movies scary and how to film a horror movie of their very own using typical techniques that directors use when filming a horror movie. Students will learn about lighting and audio techniques used to create mood in horror movies and how to tap into the 5 senses as a way to scare an audience. In the end they will learn how to film and edit a 3-5 minute horror movie Students will learn basic iMovie techniques including: uploading splitting audio filters special effects including the Greeg Screen effect to add the gore and editing specifically for a horror movie Students will also learn how to film for Suspense and Thrills! They will film a 3-10 minute Horror movie. Since this is a short class I will be available for help throughout the week as the students are putting their projects together and will give them supportive content in the area of film editing and using iMovie. Each student will also have a one to one private 20 minute session with me between our 2 sessions to hash out details and answer any questions specific to their movie! This is a short class aimed at helping students understand the horror genre in a fast paced moviemaking class and helping students get up and running practicing the techniques that make movies scary. All topics will be touched upon though time may not allow us to dive deep into it. All students will get a chance to upload their own horror movie! My hope is that this ignites their passion for moviemaking! We may stay a few minutes later in class on that first class to get any questions answered and all students solid in the project! Week 1: Learn basic iMovie skills as well as filming techniques specific to the horror movie genre that build suspense and fear. We'll talk about lighting and sound. Week 2: Learn how to edit for the horror movie genre in iMovie. We'll also learn about how to use a green screen for added horror effects See you in class!

Parental Guidance
This is a Horror Movie class aimed at creating horror movies to scare people. Each students interpretation of a scary movie will be at the center of this class. There may be Halloween themed content that is not suitable for students who are sensitive to this genre. If there is a question as to whether it's a suitable class for your child I am available to chat before you sign your child up. I will place guidelines and rules as far as violence, gore and sexuality. I will preview each movie before it's shown in class. But the students will be working with the 5 senses and how to use them as a medium to scare people.
Supply List
iPhone or Ipad iMovie (the application) Possibly a Stop Motion app ... they are generally free apps and I can suggest one as the time comes Other than that ... whatever the students decide to use for their projects! (masks, makeup, strobe light, etc) A green screen might also be something that can be fun for movies but is not required! If they are serious about movie making An Iphone/Ipad compatible microphone A triod for your iPad or iPhone (You can always make doing without these ... but they can be very helpful! )
