Class Experience
In this class, learners will be taught how to draw and paint a Halloween house. The topics covered will include background and foreground, creating Halloween-themed pictures, and socializing. This class will be structured in a relaxed environment. It will be taught using demonstration. The teaching style will be relaxed and encouraging. The students will create a Halloween House painting during this lesson. They will be drawing as well as painting their picture. While they will be given step-by-step directions, creativity will be strongly encouraged.
I have taught in brick and mortar schools for 30 years. During this time, I have taught all academic areas including STEAM and Art to grades K-5. I have had the opportunity to teach painting to children throughout this time period. Some children may be frightened by the Halloween content.
There will be no homework assigned for this class. However, students may wish to create other pictures outside of class once they have done one.
Pencil Canvas, cardstock, or other paper material to be used for creating the piece of artwork Acrylic paint (or any coloring/painting supplies available to the child- colors can be selected by the learner, however, they may wish to use white, black, purple, and orange as these are the colors I will be using Paintbrushes- I will be using different sized paintbrushes to make the painting Cup of water Paper towel Paper plate/ egg carton, or something to use for a palette.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will be assessed utilizing informal assessment. Students will be encouraged to share their creations with each other at the end of the lesson. They will also be encouraged to socialize with each other as well as the teacher during the lesson.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The learners will be coming up with some of the topics of conversation.
