Calling all cat lovers ! Let's celebrate Halloween by making a fun drawing together. Students will learn drawing skills, coloring skills, and also everyone will get a chance to socialize and chat about cats, art and Halloween! Students will be introduced to sketching. I will sketch along with the students and give detailed directions about what I am drawing. After the initial shapes of the cat and pumpkin are drawn, students will be given freedom to change their Halloween cats any way they could like. I encourage uniqueness and creativity. We will discuss expression and emotion in regard to how a student draws the faces of their cat and jack o' lantern. Students may then choose to decorate their artwork with other Halloween icons. Once sketching is complete, students may choose to ink their artwork with a Fine Tip Sharpie. Lastly, students will color using art materials you have at home - colored pencils, markers, or watercolor paint. My teaching style is relaxed. Students will have freedom to use their imagination and make a drawing that is fun for them. I will guide students along and give feedback and recommendations. I will provide technical information on how to use art materials. At the end of class, we will have time to show and talk about the art we created.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from The College of New Jersey
Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
