Description

Class Experience

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween.  This creative / descriptive writing class teaches students to identify and utilize imagery and figurative language while creating spooky settings and creepy characters.  Students will first learn the basics of the five types of imagery and the most common forms of figurative language.  Then students will work together to identify strategic details within a setting and characters in order to bring them to life in the reader's mind.  The class...

1. Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the cumulative impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone.
2 Use precise words and phrases, telling details, and sensory language to convey a vivid picture of the experiences, events, setting, and/or characters.

I am a certificated English teacher at a highly ranked high school.  I have over 15 years experience in the classroom teaching Honors and AP English classes.  For the past 2 years I have taught over 200 students online, using zoom, Google Suite, and other digital platforms to enhance student learning.  My education includes: MA in Education, BA in English Literature, and a Secondary Credential in English.
