🎃 Halloween Coding Class: Code a Game in Scratch to Catch the Monsters! 👻

Get ready for a spooktacular coding adventure! In this exciting class, your young coder (ages 6-10) will create their very own Whac-A-Mole-inspired game using Scratch, a fun block-based programming language. All coding levels are welcome—no experience needed!

What will be taught?

Students will learn to think like game designers as they bring their monsters to life! They’ll explore:

How to use loops and cloning to generate a horde of pesky monsters! 👹

Coding characters to switch costumes and appear randomly on the screen! 🎭

Using the stamp tool for spooky effects after catching a monster! ✨

Advanced students can even track their scores with variables and code a timer! ⏰

Class Structure:
Our class is highly interactive, with a maximum of 6 students for plenty of one-on-one support! Here’s what to expect:

Welcome + Introductions (5 minutes)
Scratch Setup + Login (5 minutes)
Code a Halloween-themed arcade game (about 70 minutes) 🎮
Student Project Showcase + Say Goodbye (10 minutes)
Teaching Style:
I foster an engaging environment where students can ask questions, collaborate, and showcase their creativity. Expect lots of fun games and hands-on coding!

Note for Parents:
Your student will need:

A laptop or desktop with Zoom installed and screen-sharing enabled
An internet connection of 3mbs+
A working speaker, microphone, and webcam (Windows and Mac from the last five years are supported)
Note: iPads are not recommended. Please ensure an adult is available for the first five minutes of class to assist with setup.

At Coco Coders we teach children between the age of 6-14 how to code at our Live Online Clubs and Camps through exciting themed content such as architecture, fashion and conservation to name a few.
