Description

Class Experience

Participate in an interactive read aloud.
Student will be able to use oral language skills to express favorite part of the story.
Student will be able to answer comprehension questions about what was heard.
Student will be able to create or draw something relevant to the story.
Read alouds are a critical part of a child's development and a wonderful way to engage learners in the reading process. As an experienced classroom teacher and elementary school librarian, with a Master's in Reading, I love to captive students with wonderful pictures books. I love to incorporate skills like predictions, connections, and summarizing when doing read alouds so learners connect to the text. Adding in the element of art and STEM, allows your child to use his/her creativity to build or make something related to the text. Fostering the love of creativity and reading are two of my passions and I hope your child will find this course a fun story time favorite!
No homework
Your child can use whatever supplies they prefer to build, draw, and/or create their piece. Suggested items could include, but are not limited to, play dough, building bricks, art supplies, or clay.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As a teacher, librarian, and mom of three little ones, I always recommend you preview the book on your own to see if it is appropriate for your child.
