Description
Class Experience
Learners will learn about the four *extant* groups of arthropods: Arachnids, Crustracean, Myriapods, and Insects, as well as the extinct group of Trilobites. We work on skills like observation and description as we study examples of these groups. After this "lecture" period, we will turn to our drawing board and draw a member of each group together! We sure have fun as learners focus on their work, sharing ideas and questions as we spend this "lab" time together exploring the things we've learned.
Jen holds a graduate degree in Behavioral Entomology, Master of Science, from California State University, Northridge. Jen has published her novel research in the journals Animal Behaviour and Terrestrial Arthropod Review.
No homework in this class, though your learner will be singing our songs and drawing our ideas for weeks to come:)
Bring your favorite drawing supplies and plenty of paper! I let learners know that we are *Taking notes in class* so they can be referred to later when discussing with family, so I encourage the use of paper over white board, but there are no requireme
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Jen will be personally swooning over work that learners share with her and encouraging further details etc.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
