Let's create Halloween themed art projects, while having fun and learning new art skills. Art topics will include painting skills, drawing skills, watercolor resist art projects, pattern and repetition, color, and expression. Week of Oct 1: A Jack O'Lantern or Pumpkin drawing and painting, with fall icons arranged in a dynamic pattern all around: Candy corn, leaves, spider webs, acorns, and trick or treat candy. Week of Oct 7: Ghosts in a Haunted Scene. We will draw a nighttime scene with a simple ghost haunting an outdoors scene. Can be in the woods, an old farm, a graveyard, or even your own backyard! Week of Oct 14: Pumpkin Patch on the Farm. We will learn a simple technique for 1 point perspective, with rows of pumpkins, and a farm house. Week of Oct 21: Black Cat Artwork. We can dress up our black cat in a witch's hat or on a witch's broom, and include other spooky halloween icons such as a full moon, bats, or Jack O' Lanterns. Week of Oct 28: Spooky Tree. A black silhouetted tree illuminated by the moon at night. Students may choose any fall or Halloween icon to embellish their artwork for this project - a cat, an owl, bats, spiders, a pumpkin.
Learning Goals
Students will continue to improve their art skills, learn new art techniques, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities while enjoying a fun holiday themed class.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
