In this one-time course, students will learn how to draw an adorable Halloween gnome, holding a pumpkin. We will draw the gnome from the top of his pointy hat, to the bottom of his wavy beard (full body). Class will be spent sketching an outline of the Halloween gnome and coloring him with spooky Halloween colors. I will demonstrate each step for the students. Students will follow along with each step to create their own gnome masterpiece! If students want, they may name their gnome and share their creation with the class.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to put together simple shapes to create a gnome drawing.
Students will be able to use a variety of colors to create a cohesive art piece.
Students will be able to manage their time to finish their art piece.

Supply List
REQUIRED: -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon. Please, no bigger than 9 x 12 inches.) - Colored Pencils OR Markers (black, orange, yellow, green, white, grey, brown, purple, and your choice of skin tone) (I will be using both colored pencils and markers.) -Wooden pencil with an eraser (to sketch out gnome) -Pencil sharpener OPTIONAL: -White gel pen -Fine liner pen

After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!
Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about booksโespecially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
