Celebrate & explore poetry in this one time class! Let's have fun learning about Haikus, a Japanese style of poetry, while interacting with others as we write our own haikus. This class is packed with fun, writing, and reading all in one!

Class experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Students will understand the structure of a haiku poem. Students will be able to create and compose their own haiku.
I love teaching poetry and its always one of my favorite topics to share with learners. As a veteran teacher and school librarian, I have found many students are typically not fans of poetry. With that said, I love to help to foster and cultivate an appreciation for poetry by making it a fun and engaging lesson they won't forget! This lesson is one my students always loved each year and my hope is that your child is captivated by this short yet meaningful type of poem. You'll find in all my classes, I love to employ various teaching techniques such as songs, visuals, and stories to reach the needs of all learners. I'm always looking at ways to think outside the box and really draw children into the magic and wonder of reading and writing!
