Students will practice identifying beginning sounds in various words. The teacher will use props and pictures to engage the students in identifying sounds. The teacher will also use hand motions that go with each letter sound. After a short introduction, we will have a whole group practice. Then the students will engage in a fun game that involves a very hungry hippo! Learners should have some alphabet knowledge. I have 12 years of experience in the kindergarten and first grade classroom. I am currently a 1st grade teacher. I have 1 year of experience as an online teacher. I have learned some excellent ways to engage students online through all my experiences.
Students will not have any homework. The teacher can provide suggestions for practice at parent request.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed informally with the game.
