This class is for beginner gymnasts with some gymnastics experience. Each week, students will learn a new piece of choreography with a different gymnastics tumbling skill highlighted. Students with different experience levels can modify the week's tumbling to suit their abilities. Class is broken down into 4 segments: 1. Dance warm up to music 2. Tumbling lesson: drills leading up to the day's skill 3. Section-by-section choreography breakdown 4. Performance of the entire piece (30 seconds...
Students will improve their rhythm, dance, and tumbling, as well as practice fluency of movement as they combine dance moves and tumbling skills together.
In addition to being a former competitive gymnast and theater arts professional, I have coached gymnastics for 19 years, and created and taught hundreds of dances to children as a gymnastics coach and theater choreographer.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As with any sport or physical activity, gymnastics and dance carry a risk of injury. Minimize this risk by providing a wide open space, parental supervision, and comfortable, athletic clothing.
