Class Experience

This camp is for beginner gymnasts who are proficient at forward rolls and cartwheels, and ready for progressions toward next level gymnastics skills. Class will be a mix of live instruction and slides/ video clips that include:

1. Live interactive warm-up, stretch, and "circle time"
2. Rolls
3. Jumps and landings
4. Handstands, cartwheels, and variations
5. Bridges and back bends
5. Body Shaping (strength and stretching exercises to promote proper gymnastics technique)

Students who progress quickly will be given extra challenges. Small group instruction means that each student will get personal attention and corrections. My coaching style is theatrical, highly enthusiastic, and focused on verbal positivity ("Push hard and straighten your arms!" rather than "Stop bending your arms").

This class is geared toward students with some gymnastics experience. Students should dress in athletic clothing, have a wide open space, soft surface for landing, and a few other pieces of equipment. Gymnastics mats are optional, but not needed. Equipment can be found in the supply list below.

Learning Goals

Students will learn gymnastics terminology and skills, and improve their coordination, strength, and flexibility.
