This class is for beginner gymnasts who have a practice balance beam at home. Students may also use a tape line on the floor. Through the use of slides and demonstration, students will learn gymnastics terminology, body positions, and balance beam skills. At the end of class, students will put together all of the skills they have learned into a balance beam routine. Class agenda: 1. Ballet style warm-up to music 2. Basic balance beam walks, emphasizing correct posture and technique 3. Jumps and landings, safely dismounting the beam 4. Presentation and mounting the beam 5. Combine all skills into a routine Any students who would like to perform the routine individually will have a chance to do so at the end of class. My teaching style is enthusiastic and positive, and I keep my gymnastics classes small so that students can receive lots of individual coaching.
Learning Goals
Students will learn gymnastics terminology and skills, practice gymnastics exercises, and memorization.
