Class experience

US Grade 6 - 9
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to name the two beaches that Americans invaded on D-Day.
Students will be able to name the three types of units involved in the invasion.
Students will be able to explain how geography played a role in the invasions.
I was head social studies teacher at my school for 15 years. I believe the fact that I have not only studied WWII in-depth, but have walked these beaches with veterans who fought there allows me to bring stories to life so that students will understand the invasion from both a military aspect and that of the individual.
Students may want to bring questions to class. They may want to take notes, but they will have the class video as a resource.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class is about WWII and a land, sea, air invasion that cost the lives of soldiers and civilians. The class does not go into detail about the deaths, but it can be a topic of discussion. I teach my students that all lives have value, we do not cheer for death.
