US Grade 8 - 11
In this one-time class, I will work to expand and support the understanding of historical events based on the student’s area of need or interest. I prefer this class to be for individual students but will work also with small study groups or families. I teach using a mixture of stories, visuals (maps, charts, images), video clips, primary sources, and political cartoons based upon the historical event or time period. Some classes may be a review using Kahoot!, Quizlet, or Quizziz for practice. In addition to reviewing academic topics, I can assist your child in learning how to answer short answer and DBQ test questions. DBQ questions require a deep understanding of the topic and the answer format is one that often requires practice and editing. Possible Class Topics: The Magna Carta: causes and effects Reasons for Exploration: causes and effects American Revolution: causes and effects, the sequence of events American Government The American Constitution: key amendments Imperialism: Causes and Effects Science Revolution Enlightenment French Revolution: causes and sequence Japan's Rise to Power Start of WWI Russian Revolution Sequence the events of WWI Battle of Belleau Woods Start of WWII Sequence the events of WWII WWII: Pacific Theater WWII: European Theater. The Cold War The United Nations Korean War Vietnam War Class can focus on learning details about a specific event or the review of a time period. History and Social Studies all involve individuals and how they interacted over time. For many students, the human interest gets lost in learning dates and makes, but our past is so much more than a timeline. I look forward to the opportunity to help your child understand history for academic success.?
