Class experience
🎸Hi, I'm Emma and I'm super passionate about playing guitar and all kinds of music! My favorite style of music is classic rock, and I am open to teaching any style a student is interested in. Please message me if you don't see a lesson time that works for you! I may have other availability that isn't listed. ⭐️I accept beginner through advanced students and teach both electric and acoustic guitar ⭐️ Teaching Philosophy My lessons are practical application focused. The songs we learn are...
Depends on the student. I ask students to practice each week for a minimum of 1 hour a day for five days a week. The goal is to practice the skills we work on in each lesson and to keep improving!
I hold a B.S. in Worship Arts ,with guitar as my main instrument, and a minor in Music Industry Studies. I performed with 20+ different bands while in college and have experience playing many different styles including rock, pop, metal, blues, fusion, progressive rock, and jazz. I've written and recorded music with three different bands, the most recent being my solo project under which I recently released my first original music EP, 'Letters From Earth,' which has been featured in "Guitar Girl Magazine," and "Rock Progresivo," an Italian music blog. You can check out my work on my website, emmanobbemusic.com.
Homework Offered
I'll give students something to practice for the next lesson each time we meet. How long it takes really depends on the student's level of playing, what they are learning, and how fast they want to progress. Students who are more advanced and seeking to progress at a faster rate might practice 1.5-2 hours a day; whereas some younger beginner students may only practice for an hour a day. 1 hour, 5 days a week is the minimum I suggest to see improvement.Assessments Offered
If a student chooses to sign up for continuous lessons, I evaluate them based on individual improvement. Each lesson, I will give students skills to practice for the next lesson. Once a student has learned a skill, I'll teach them what's next. I ask my students to practice consistently because that is how you improve. If a student practices but isn't able to master a new skill in a week, that is completely okay and normal. In music, everyone has skills that come more easily to them or that are more difficult for them. This is the advantage of individual lessons, each student get's to move at their own pace! For parents, if you have a student who needs accountability and would like to receive assessments from me on their progress, if they are practicing, etc., please let me know and I am happy to do so! I can't force students to practice, but I'm happy to establish good communication with parents to help my students succeed :) IMPORTANT Students who consistently choose to not put in basic effort to progress, or who are regularly rude, will be removed from the class at the teacher's discretion. I love teaching, and it's not fun for me if a student is uninterested or severely unmotivated.Grades Offered
