Class Experience

During these classes we will get more familiar with the sting names by finger plucking, review the 3 basic chords G, D, and C, learning more complex songs, strumming patterns, and most importantly we will continue learning and challenging ourselves in our playing abilities.
Lesson 1 - Students will review the 3 chords they have learned through Boot Camp 1 - G, D, and C. We will practice strumming between the three chords and talk about the importance of practicing at home. Students will learn Twinkle Twinkle Little Star using the G, D, and C chords.
Lesson 2 - Students will be introduced to TABS by reviewing the string names and discussing how to play using a finger picking technique. Students will leave this class with a finger picking songs that they can play and practice outside of class.
Lesson 3 - Students will play one of the pieces from the last class and continue to review TABS and learn new songs.
Lesson 4 - Students will play one of the pieces from the last class. Students will learn the new chords A and E and play Three Little Birds.

In this class we will learn how to play songs using the chords G, D, C, A and E. This is NOT a new beginner class, Students really need to know these chords and be able to switch between them in order to get the most out of the class, to keep up, and not get frustrated. If you have not completed the Guitar Book Camp 1 please make sure you do know the G, D, and C chords.

Please come to class prepared to have fun, be challenged, and to learn a song that you can play even after you leave class. Please make sure you practice in between classes (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT in order for you to become a better player.) Please have your guitar's tuned so that helps with some time. You can always learn how to tune your guitar before classes start by watching some youtube video tutorials. With these type of classes, times are approximately 45min. but class may run below or over based on how many students are enrolled and how the students are understanding the content.

Learning Goals

By the end of Boot Camp 2, students will review the 3 chords G, C, D, and learn the new chords A and E. Students will learn strumming patterns that will go with songs. Students will gain knowledge by using strumming patterns to play music with chords and finger picking by reading and using TABS by the end of these classes.

Supply List
I will provide the information and chord finger positions and all they need is a guitar and the willingness to learn something new every day. There are many free apps that you can download to help tune your guitar. I use Guitar Tuner app and it would be great if you could tune the guitar before class. We will talk about tuning the first class so after that class they should be able to tune the ukulele before the rest of the classes. You will tune your guitar starting with the top string and working down. The guitar should be tuned to the string names Low E, A, D, G, B, High E.
