Class Experience

In this class, students will learn how to play the basic open chords on guitar - it's the perfect class for beginners who aren't sure where to start. Learning open chord shapes is the best way to get started making music - today!

I offer a warm and friendly teaching environment, and I'll show learners step by step how to make their guitar sing. We will also cover how to read chord diagrams, so learners will know how to teach themselves any chord they might need in the future.

This class is very interactive, and requires active participation from all learners! This is a small classroom environment and everybody will have the chance to participate, ask questions, and - most importantly - make some music!

Learning Goals

In this class, we will focus on 4 chords - G Major, C Major, E minor, and D major. With these basic building blocks, students will already be able to play along to many of their favorite songs such as Let it Be (The Beatles), I'm Yours (Jason Mraz), and Someone Like You (Adele), and many more!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!

My name's Ethan, and I'm an experienced cello teacher who's been sharing music with students since 2013. I have lots of experience working with children, and musicians of all ages and skill levels. On top of my teaching experience, I hold a Master's degree in cello performance, and I've had training in music theory and music history.

My approach to teaching has always been based on communication and listening - I always try to find what will be best for who I'm working with, and to put in terms they will understand! I'm passionate about music and cello playing, and it's a privilege to share this knowledge with my students.

I offer classes on cello, as well as some music theory, for more advanced musicians. Check out my classes for more details!
