What's included

3 live meetings
1 hrs 45 mins in-class hours
Homework
1-2 hours per week. I will upload song sheets, tablature, and some videos of how to play the songs, into the classroom each week. You can print the materials out and keep them in a folder if you like. You can also view the materials in the classroom, and practice from there. Students will be given various things to practice each week, on their own, to be ready for the next week's lesson. I recommend that students practice at least 20 to 30 minutes, at least 3 different days, during the week, in order to become familiar with the material, and to develop their skills.
Assessment
Each student's progress will be informally assessed during the lessons, and at the close of the course.

Class Experience

I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes.
Please have your guitar tuned before class, but I will help with fine tuning at the class. I will send a link for GuitarTuna that you can use online, or you can get the GuitarTuna app for your phone.

This is a beginner course on playing the guitar.
No prior experience is necessary.

The first class will introduce the students to the guitar, the string numbers and names, and an overview about how to tune the guitar.
Then we will learn how to read guitar tablature and play a couple of fun songs. During the following weeks, we will do more guitar tablature and then chord diagrams, with some simple strumming.
We will play some fun songs, and learn how to improvise a lead.
My teaching style is creative and focused on the individual learners. Music is about self expression and enjoyment.
You will need to use the GuitarTuna app or the GuitarTuna online tuner to tune your guitar each week, so that the tuning process does not take up a huge amount of class time. But I will help the students tune during the first class and I will check the tuning each week at the beginning of class.
