If your children are reluctant writers and can't seem to figure out the hidden strategies of writing, well, this is an ideal course for them. This is a semi-private course to try to ensure that your child learns how to write. It will focus on helping struggling writers gain the confidence to construct a three-paragraph Essay by reviewing some basic strategies to implement and improve writing immediately. I can and will be providing some SENTENCE-BY-SENTENCE guidance during the Expository and Persuasive writing sections because of the strategies I will be teaching. This is a powerful technique to help correct any structural problems that the learner might be encountering. THIS IS A 15-DAY COURSE. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` COURSE OBJECTIVES: + Construct a paragraph/essay about a different topic each day. + Review or Learn how to write a three-paragraph essay when given a specific topic. + Review and Examine the parts of a paragraph and essay using a PP slide presentation. + Emphasis will be placed on simple strategies to construct a cohesive paragraph/essay. + An exemplar will be used to examine paragraphs & essay structures. + Brainstorm ideas that can be used for each paragraph, and then we will construct them. + Share responses by reading them aloud to the class or submitting them. ***THIS CLASS WILL BE DRIVEN BY GIVING SENTENCE-BY-SENTENCE GUIDANCE TO THE STUDENTS IF DEEMED NECESSARY. ***STUDENTS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WITHIN THE 60-MINUTE GUIDELINES WITHOUT ACCOMMODATIONS. ```````````````````````````````````````````` COURSE AGENDA ````````````````````````````````````````` DAYS 1 - 3 FOCUS: DESCRIPTIVE WRITING Review Paragraph & Essay Elements Examine a Descriptive paragraph and discuss the elements. Construct a Descriptive writing response. DAYS 4 - 7 FOCUS: EXPOSITORY WRITING Review Paragraph and Essay Elements Examine an Expository Essay and discuss the introduction, body, and closing. Construct Cause & Effect, Compare & Contrast, or Problem & Solution essays. Read and share the completed task. DAYS 8 - 11 FOCUS: PERSUASIVE WRITING Review Paragraph and Essay Elements Examine a Persuasive Essay and discuss the introduction, body, and closing. Construct a Persuasive Essay by using Reasons, Examples, Logic, or Ethics. DAYS 12 - 15 FOCUS: NARRATIVE WRITING Review Paragraph and Essay Elements Examine a Narrative Essay and discuss the introduction, body, and closing. Construct a Narrative text by developing essays on creative writing topics. =============================================================
