Does your child have difficulty identifying the Main Idea and Supporting Details correctly? If so, their worries will dissipate when learning how to extract key concepts and supporting information by annotation. Annotating text is a vital skill when interfacing with short and longer bodies of text. Simply speaking, it allows students to obtain quick recall through marking the text that pertain to important concepts. This course is driven by using a Power Point Presentation and an aligned workbook for the practice of this salient concept. Students will read a selected page and identify the Main Idea and Supporting Details by annotating wording per my instruction. Confirmation and discussion of the correct responses will occur. Then students will complete a second page that integrates the annotated details or specific reading skills into questions which measure understanding of the passage content. Pages 19 & 20 will not be completed. In this ongoing course, you are at liberty to take as many or as few classes as you would like. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````` UPCOMING COURSE AGENDA ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````` WEEK 1 DATES: 3rd week February FOCUS: Main Idea, Details, Sequence, Fact & Opinion passage selections: 1, 3, 5 passage selections: 2 & 4 (HW) WEEK 2 DATES: 4th week February FOCUS: Fact & Opinion, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect passage selections: 6, 8, 10 passage selections: 7 & 9 (HW) WEEK 3 DATES: 1st week March FOCUS: Context Clues, Problem & Solution, Summarize passage selections: 11, 13, 15 passage selections: 12 & 14 (HW) WEEK 4 DATES: 2nd week March FOCUS: Summarize, Making Inferences passage selections: 16 - 18 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
