Homework
2-4 hours per week. Unfinished workbook pages will be compulsory in order to fare well and proceed forward with instruction. In addition, all students will need to review the reading skills and strategies given throughout the course.
Assessment
Each practice reading selection will serve as an assessment or measurement for student's demonstration of understanding subject content.

Guided Test Prep is designed to assist students in reviewing pertinent reading skills that are found on state standardized yearly tests and to specifically increase their scores.   During this seven-week course, students will be fully immersed and engaged in completing aligned and specific exercises that will be helpful in passing the reading portion of a standardized test.  

The course is driven by REVIEWING standard reading skills and strategies found on current reading assessments for elementary and middle school students and will be delivered by using a Power Point Presentation.   Additionally,  students will use a Texas STAAR Practice workbook which will provide the necessary exemplars for student practice.

No accommodations will be given in this type of course.
Pre-Requisites
All students must have a working knowledge of basic Reading Skills such as main idea, details, cause & effect, context clues, drawing conclusions and inference. Additionally, students must be reading on or above their current grade level.
