Guided Reading/Writing Small Group Instruction for Grades 5-6 (Levels T-V)
This is an on going class for 4th and 5th grade students that meets twice a week to practice reading comprehension skills. The focus reading comprehension skills are: plot and setting, character, vocabulary/figurative language, and theme.

This 45 minute class will be taught focusing on the 4 main literacy skills (plot and setting, character, vocabulary and figurative language, and themes). This section will focus on both reading and writing as both skills are significant within reading comprehension. Reading Homework Each session will have a focused reading goal. If the learner doesn't meet the reading goal, then it will be assigned for homework. Writing Homework Each session will have a writing task focused on the reading comprehension. If the learner doesn't complete the writing task in class, then it will assigned for homework.
Classwork comprehension questions will be printable if learners choose to have a physical copy.
Weekly oral or written assessments will be given to monitor learners' reading comprehension.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
