Class Experience

During this ongoing course students will read level A and B books on the Fontas and Pinnell levels. This is class is run much like a small group reading class would be within a school setting. We will start out by practicing a phonics skill as well as practice sight words that we will see in the story. We will then move to reading our story. There will be questions asked during the book as well as an extension question to discuss after class. This will be an interactive course with conversation. This course will have a new book taught each week from reading a-z. These books are leveled to fit the needs of your child.  I will then determine if we should stay on a level A. A level A book follows a pattern to the reading and focuses on basic high frequency words. Level B books change the pattern of reading with more challenging high frequency words. 


Your child will need to know their letters, sounds and the concept of written language before taking this course. 
They will need a white board/eraser or pencil/paper for this class.

My name is Ms. Tia! I have been a certified classroom teacher for 12 years. This is my 10th year in kindergarten and I love it!  I have a special education degree as well as training in math and guided reading. I believe every child can learn in an environment set up for success. I think it is important to keep routine, actions and energy to a classroom.
I am certified in dyslexia, science of reading as well as LETRS. My passion is loving on the littles and watching their brains grow! 
Fun fact: I have three children who are my world. I also love any and every holiday. I usually dress up in themes during them as well.
