GUIDED READING BASICS is a class that has been designed to teach, review and practice Reading Skills that are embedded within reading passages that students read on a daily basis. Students will find this course a useful addition and great help towards reaching common core guidelines. This course is a must for students to understand the rudimentary concepts of reading which will ultimately move them in the direction of understanding standardized tests better. Students will learn, study and practice approximately 10 + Reading Strategies and Reading Skills by using 6 workbooks that parents must purchase.
I have had more than 20 years of classroom and tutorial experience teaching Writing Skills to various age groups. I have extensive coursework and professional development training in the academic area of Writing. I have taught writing skills and strategies with English Language Arts Courses and with the READ 180 program which contains a writing component.
Homework Offered
There will be homework assigned each night. Students MUST complete the tasks in order to move the class forward. The homework will consist of having students read short passages and respond to related comprehension questions to demonstrate their understanding of the skills and strategies taught.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Progress will be assessed by students demonstrating their ability to apply the skills and strategies when reading short passages and when responding to aligned answers.Grades Offered
