This class is designed to explain, model, and help students organize their ideas into well organized, five paragraph essays. This writing class provides step by step examples to students who need to learn, or review, the basics of setting up a five paragraph essay. Each essay will be modeled for them. The teacher will provide whole group instruction, a sample essay, and afterwards students will begin working on their own essays. For homework, students will add their own thoughts and details...
The goal of this class will be to familiarize students with the structure of a five paragraph essay. They will gain practice through weekly writing and improve their writing skills with teacher feedback.
Students will be required to complete the essays that were started in class each week.
Students will need to attend class with a printed copy of the graphic organizer, paper, and pencil.
Students will be assessed on their progress of writing five paragraph essays.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
