Taught by a British teacher, we will read and discuss the first book in the Guest of War Trilogy by Kit Pearson called The Lights Go On Again which evolves around two WW2 evacuees from England now living in Canada.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
This class is taught in English.
For students to gain confidence in sharing their thoughts and opinions, gain a love of reading and literature, and learn a bit about history (evacuees from WW2) along the way.
I am originally from Britain, and as a child, I went around many stately homes. My parents were both born in the 1930s, and my mum's stories of WWII allowed me to see history in such a different way. I have taken many classes in history, and my love for literature has grown over the years, that I would love to share this love to allow students to see that history and literature can be fun to learn and to learn how communities can come together. I have taken many university-level courses in communication and history which help me address this book to allow students to engage in the topics of this book in a healthy, safe environment.
Reading about 5 chapters a week.
We will be using the second book of the Guest of War Trilogy by Kit Pearson called The Lights Go On Again. Some version have all 3 books of the trilogy (The Sky is Falling / Looking at the Moon / The Lights Go On Again) in one book instead of three. This would work too for the class since it has the third book inside it.
None.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This story is about fictional evacuees from World War 2 (Norah and her brother Gavin) who were sent from England to Canada and discusses their challenges and life along the way.
We will be using the third book of the Guest of War Trilogy by Kit Pearson called The Lights Go On Again. Some version have all 3 books of the trilogy (The Sky is Falling / Looking at the Moon / The Lights Go On Again) in one book instead of three. This would work too for the class since it has the third book inside it.
