Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello friends!
My name is Helen Howard. I teach mostly reading and comprehension classes. I also enjoy art projects. My professional background includes 13 years of experience teaching Kindergarten through third grade. I love reading stories! I have a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education with a Concentration in Reading from the University of NC at Greensboro.
I believe that all children can and will learn. The teacher's role (that's me!) is to act as a guide to facilitate this learning. I believe that all students should be able to have curiosities and questions that direct their individual learning. I assist my students in expressing themselves through free talk and partner discussions in every lesson. I aim to bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations to my classroom each day. I bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my classroom in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in my students as well.
I am originally from NJ. I have a 19 year old cat named Mackenzie. She's been with me since I was in college! My husband and I celebrated our marriage on 7/2/16. We love to travel!!
