Beginner Level
Join us at a State Park and Botanical Garden to learn about History, Science, Art, and the Growth Mindset. My self-paced growth mindset course is designed for learners who need a little more flexibility or want to have the program to come back to throughout the year. As adults, we quickly learn that to achieve great things we have to work hard and overcome struggle. In education we've been asking how do we teach these concepts to children early in life to normalize struggle. In 2014 Carol Dweck gave a TED Talk on her work with children and the growth mindset and it sent a burst of energy throughout education. It not only changed how we teach children to not give up but also how we as educators and parents can communicate this philosophy of learning to children. Self-Paced Feedback: This growth Mindset Course is self paced but as your teacher I'll be by your side for questions and feedback during your week. I strive to always respond quickly and have set a goal of no more than 24 hrs. Time to Completion: 5 lessons at 30 minutes to 1 hour each. I suggest pacing one lesson a day however motivated students could complete the course in a long afternoon. Self-Paced Class Structure: - Daily Welcome Video with Instruction - Activity - Overarching art project - Science Activity Environment - Classes take place at a State Park in South Carolina and a Botanical Garden in North Carolina. I am passionate about bringing the world to my learners and love to teach in non-traditional classrooms. Science and History - Learners often begin with the lifecycle of the butterfly in primary education so this course is a great opportunity to introduce them to science. This Course Includes: - Activities and Worksheets to reinforce learning. - Videos Filmed Exclusively for Outschool at a Botanical Garden and State Park - Learn to Draw Butterflies - Learn about the Life Cycle and Anatomy of the Butterfly
