I have served as an English teacher at the high school, middle school, and elementary levels. In previous jobs, I have served as a literacy coach, a state literacy specialist/ coach, an instructional coach, remedial reading teacher, and assistant principal of instruction. Currently, I serve as the principal for my district's Scholars Academy, which is a school designed to have students achieve college credits while completing high school.
On occasion, students will be asked to write brief compositions. These compositions will be graded to ensure that the grammatical principles being taught are transferred to the students' writing.
Students will need paper, colored pencils, paper, and a pen.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
On-going assessment through the students' exercises and compositions will be used to determine student success.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The teacher will send course materials to students.
