This on-going series allows learners to listen to an interactive and dramatic reading of the Geronimo Stilton adventures, while engaging in fun and educational discussions each week!

Classes meet FIVE times a week (Monday-Friday) with A NEW BOOK READ EACH WEEK!!

Ahoy, Young Editors and Explorers!

Welcome to THE RODENT'S GAZETTE where members of the adventure guild meet each week to join Geronimo Stilton as he gets pulled into adventure with Thea, Trap, and Benjamin! Adventure to places both real and imagined and discuss our findings with other guild members!

If your child is experiencing difficulty "paying attention" during story time than this is the class for you!

During each session, students will listen to a dramatic reading of that week's selected book. Students will be asked questions about themes, characters, settings, and conflict, as well as discussing a range of other topics. As learners listen-along with each tale, we will stop to talk about important developments and how those developments effect the overall story.

Classes are designed to be fun and entertaining, allowing young readers to immerse themselves within the stories and focus their energies on the development of crucial comprehension skills. Increased listening and reading comprehension has been proven to increase student abilities in both language arts and the sciences by allowing learners to access a wider array of cognitive reasoning skills developed through simple entertainment of reading!

This class focuses on harboring a love for reading by allowing students to develop a relationship with their reading material through social interaction, and the comparison of literature to their current knowledge and interests. The more students are allowed to "play" with the ideas within the stories, the faster their understanding and development of essential comprehension will occur. During each session, students will be given multiple opportunities to discuss their ideas with other learners.

My goal is to instill a love for reading at an early age with a strong focus on comprehension. By captivating readers' interest through a dramatic reading of the narrative, timid readers can begin to strengthen their reading comprehension skills and concentrate their energies on understanding the structural elements of the story. Stories will be read aloud to the learners using a variety of character voices and analog sound effects. This type of reading goes beyond mere "story time" and helps young readers focus on the underlying emotional subtexts within each story.

Learners are welcome to ask questions during the reading to enhance their understanding of the story. As reading comprehension develops, these questions will gradually become more complex and young readers harness the power of their own (super hero voice) CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS!

As readers follow along each week, we will discuss history, vocabulary, famous figures, as well as many, MANY other topics. Each student will be challenged to expand their understanding of the stories and offer their own predictions. These discussions will help asses their reading development and allow me to further assist their needs.

I work hard to cater to the needs of each of my learners to promote their reading comprehension and creativity skills, while offering a fun environment to play and learn together!

Physical/Digital copies of the books are not required for this course, but students are encouraged to follow along during the reading with their own books, if they are able.

Each class will cover several chapters and will include a variety of questions and activities.

I look forward to meeting all of my young historians and adventurers!!
