In this one time class, students will cover the material: How to Grow Your Thinking- Growth Mindset, Self-Monitoring. This is the second class in the full year options: 13-18 https://outschool.com/classes/executive-function-learn-study-motivate-brain-wiring-hacking-project-class-3U08n69L?refuid=5NI17KDI 9-12 https://outschool.com/classes/executive-function-learning-motivation-brain-wiring-hacking-canva-project-class-uxGpmeMd?refuid=5NI17KDI For this class we will discuss: How do we think about our weaknesses? How do we use our strengths? In this one time class, learners will be introduced to their powerful brain with science facts, real life examples and famous examples of grit. In this engaging and interactive one-time class, students will explore how to cultivate a growth mindset and harness their full potential. Using the familiar tale of Jack and the Beanstalk as a metaphor, students will learn how small actions, much like Jack’s magical bean, can lead to big changes in their thinking. Throughout the class, students will reflect on how they view challenges, mistakes, and their own strengths and weaknesses. By examining real-life examples from history, students will see how grit and effort, rather than talent alone, lead to success. They will also gain insight into how to reframe negative thoughts, recognize the value of effort, and understand that obstacles are stepping stones toward growth. In the “Galaxies of Your Mind” section of the class, students will discover the incredible potential within their own brains. By understanding the massive number of connections in their brains, students will see how much “equipment” they have to work with, emphasizing the idea that their brains are filled with the power of possibilities. This highlights the potential for growth and improvement through learning and connecting new ideas. This exciting section wraps up with the introduction of goal-setting as the next key step to further enhance learning and achieve success. Students will explore how neurons connecting is the essence of learning and how they can leverage that understanding to pursue meaningful goals in the future. At the end of the class, students will leave with practical tips for fostering a growth mindset, such as embracing effort, learning from mistakes, and staying persistent, even in the face of challenges. This session will empower students to believe in their ability to grow, learn, and improve, no matter the obstacles they face, armed with a super, powerful brain. Class Overview: Understand the Growth Mindset Concept: Students will learn the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, recognizing how effort and persistence lead to personal and academic growth. Recognize the Power of Neuron Connections: Students will explore how the brain’s vast network of neurons and synapses enables learning, and how they can strengthen these connections by embracing challenges. Develop Strategies for Positive Self-Talk: Students will practice reframing negative thoughts into growth-oriented ones, learning to use positive self-talk to improve their learning and problem-solving abilities.
