Class Experience

This course will help learners identify beginning sounds in words. This course does not build on itself, but is not always the same - so learners benefit from taking it more than once! Being able to listen to or read a word and identify the beginning sound is a key skill in early literacy. We will practice this skill through oral practice, alliteration, movement, as well as through fine motor practice such as writing sounds and building them with playdoh. Students will deepen their understanding and ability to identify beginning sounds in words and pictures. Students will be able to form the letter that represents the beginning sound they hear.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Boom Learning

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.

We may use Boom Card decks at the end of class, but it will be whole group. Students will NOT be expected to create and account or access the content on their own.
