Class Experience

This is an 8-week FLEX course that will help learners to understand and develop a growth mindset.

Teaching live ongoing classes on growth mindset has helped me to develop the skill of delivering these topics to young learners in a way that is engaging and “lands”. My hope is that your learners will be able to take their new knowledge outside of the classroom and apply it to their lives.

Each week learners will:

Watch the pre-recorded video that walks students through each topic. The videos will be engaging and full of fun age-appropriate examples that help students connect and gain an understanding of the topic.

Put their understanding of the topic to practice by completing weekly challenges. They will be encouraged to think about a personal challenge they are currently facing. They can write or draw about it in their Growth Mindset Journals and take a picture or record a video sharing their thoughts. This will promote self-reflection and engagement with the class community. It is my hope that students will support one another as they post and interact sharing their struggles and mistakes. They will also have different activities to complete on each topic discussed (worksheets, online quizzes and games, conversations challenges, etc.)

I will also be providing weekly prompts that adults can use to help support their learners throughout the class

Week 1: What Are Mindsets?
In this week's video, I will introduce the concept of mindsets, explaining the differences between fixed and growth mindsets. Students will learn how our mindset influences our beliefs and abilities.

Week 2: Neuroplasticity
In this week's video, I will introduce neuroplasticity, explaining how our brain can grow and change through practice and effort. Students will understand that their abilities are not fixed and can be improved.

Week 3: Positive Thoughts & Affirmation
In this week's video, I will focus on positive thoughts and affirmations by emphasizing the importance of building positive beliefs about ourselves and demonstrating the power of affirmations to do so.

Week 4: Overcoming Negative Thoughts
In this week's video, I will help students recognize negative thoughts and provide strategies to transform them into positive thoughts. Students will learn how to challenge negative thinking and replace it with more constructive thoughts.

Week 5: Resilience- Let’s get bouncy
In this week's video, I will introduce resilience explaining the concept of bouncing back from mistakes and setbacks while encouraging students to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.

Week 6: Learning From Every Mistake
In this week's video, I will introduce how to view each mistake as a learning opportunity. I will discuss the importance of reflecting on mistakes, identifying lessons learned, and using that knowledge to improve.

Week 7: Creating Helpful Habits
In this week's video, I will discuss habits and how to anchor a new mini-habit to an existing one. I will explain how the concept of neuroplasticity allows us to create new helpful habits that move us toward our goals. Students will be encouraged to think of a positive habit they want to develop to support their growth mindset.

Week 8: Goal Setting
The final video centers around goal setting. The teacher explains the importance of setting goals and guides students in setting achievable and meaningful goals to continue fostering their growth mindset.
