My 30 years in public education included teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade language arts as well as serving as a language arts instructional coach and instructional specialist for grades 4-12. I embraced the teachings of writing instruction leaders like Nancy Atwell, Ralph Fletcher, Penny Kittle, Jeff Anderson, Kelly Gallagher, and Jennifer Serravallo as I designed this course.
Homework OfferedStudents will be encouraged to spend an additional 30 minutes- 1 hour each week practicing what is learned.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Learners may complete the writing electronically or with paper and pencil. Some weeks, a paper and pencil completion will better meet the needs of the assignment. Students should have paper and pen/pencil available each week during the session.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
