This class will meet 3 times a week, ongoing, as needed. Communication between teacher and parent will determine the specific area of focus in the subject areas of Phonics, Reading, and Language Arts concepts. Individualized lessons will be created for specific areas of focus. Lessons will include direct instruction, guided practice, and games to reinforce concepts taught. Tutoring can also include assistance for other academic class assignments if requested by the parent. It is my goal to develop confidence in learning. For learning to read, or for struggling readers: In this ongoing tutoring class our goal is to meet your child where they are at and move forward. It is important to foster a love of reading, and so I will do everything I can to help your child engage and make reading fun. We will begin by taking an assessment to see where they are struggling (If they are), and develop a strategy for your child's success. Meeting 3 times a week, We will work through decodable readers developing phonemic awareness, - understanding how letters and sounds work together, and learn phonics decoding skills. We will play games, practice writing for all graphemes, capitals and lower case, and learn to read books. We will progress as quickly as your child is able to prove their understanding of the level- It could be completed in 1 week, but typically 1 level will take 2 weeks to complete.
