***See you next year!*** -We've reached the end of pumpkin season. The vines have stopped growing (pretty much), the leaves are turning brown, and the pumpkins are orange and ready for a front porch. So I won't be offering any more sections of this class in 2020, but I plan to offer it again next August-September. I hope you'll join me then! Hello, pumpkin lovers! Get an up close and personal look at a real pumpkin patch. Join me for a crash course on all things pumpkins. I'll be showing...
Students will fill their heads with pumpkin knowledge, including: *the pumpkin life cycle *parts of the plant *flower identificiation *bees and pollination *pumpkin pests and maintanence *other pumpkin nuisances (leaf wilt, powdery mildew, gummy stem, etc.) *tips for successful crops
2020 is my sixth year growing pumpkin plants. Although I use my backyard as opposed to a field, for instance, I have been able to successfully grow pumpkins. However, I have also unsuccessfully grown pumpkins, which has forced me to research all of the problems pumpkin growers face. Over the years, I've learned what to do and what not to do when growing pumpkins, and I've become quite knowledgeable about the process. I want to share this hobby of mine, and I'd love to inspire a love of pumpkins in your learner!
4 files available upon enrollment1) Bring the first attached handout (PumpkinQuestions) to class and we will fill in the answers together. 2) Kahoot Quiz: you will have the option of competing in an online quiz against the rest of the class. You will need a separate device to participate. During class, I'll give you the code to access the quiz on kahoot.it
We will be answering questions together as a group that you may use to complete the handout provided. Those who wish to may try a Kahoot quiz against your classmates to see what you've learned. Everyone will receive a certificate!
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Younger students may need help accessing the Kahoot quiz on a device other than what they are using for class. You will be given a code to use on the website, kahoot.it There is nothing you need to download to use Kahoot.
