In addition to just learning and singing this classic song, "Over The Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz, students will learn: Basic Musical Terms Regarding The Voice and Singing Practice With Octave Jumps & Warm Ups That Help Prepare The Voice To Sing In The Three Registers. How To Adjust Pitch, Tone, and Style In This Song They will also be sent home with several videos that showcase how many ways people can sing the same song. Students should leave class feeling like they've gained more musical knowledge, control over their voice, a deeper understanding of the different techniques one can apply to a song, and an overall comfortability singing the song well on their own.
Miss Anne began her career as a singer at the age of 13 and has sung in several choirs, musical theater productions, and special events in multiple states across the US over the course of the last 21 years. She studied voice all throughout middle-school and high-school, received a scholarship to study voice in University and then graduated in 2007 with a degree in Music. She then became a certified music instructor who has taught music for Prek-8th grade in the Florida public schools. She currently resides in Florida where she has appeared twice at the Tampa Bay Rays stadium to sing the National Anthem, has been in productions at both Manatee and Sarasota Players Theaters and sang several concerts with Sarasota's professional Choral Artists. In the last three years she has been singing around the state with her husband performing their own shows for a variety of special events. They are known as "The Martin Duo". Most recently they have both completed voice-overs and audiobook character voices for 5 educational books through Wordbook. More information on their work can be found here: www.themartinduo.com
Optional. Students can continue to practice the song with a karaoke track and also listen to several examples to compare/ contrast.
Nothing needed, unless they'd like to view videos after class. Then they would need access to Youtube for the listening examples once class is complete.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
