Class experience

US Grade 2 - 3
This class is taught in English.
Students will understand how to sound out blends and digraphs. Student will recognize and read several sight words. Students will improve in their phonemic awareness and gain greater confidence in spelling.
I have been an elementary school teacher for the past couple of years, I am licensed in the state of Utah, and I have a Masters of Elementary Education. I have participated in the extensive LETRS science of reading training.
Students will need writing materials each class. I will post a page to print with letter formation lines that will be used each day. I recommend placing it in a zip lock bag and using a dry erase marker, but pencil will work.
Students will need transfer cards for class as well. I will provide these, they just need to be either printed, or digitally available during class.
Print out worksheets will be provided. These will be used during class and must be printed in order for learners to properly learn to write. Learning to form letters properly and effectively does help students read and spell better because recognizing and forming letters will no longer require effort.
Students will be provided all the material they need, other than writing supplies. I do use the Reading Horizon's Discovery Curriculum with permission from the company. Reading Horizon's is research-based and offers a differentiated and multi-sensory experience. As an educator who nearly has my masters and has had extensive training in the science of reading, I absolutely love this curriculum and the explicit method it uses.
