Class Experience

Here's how my group guitar lessons work: After the course ends, I will create a section for the next level of group guitar lessons at the same day and time for all of the students to enroll in. This way, students can keep learning for as long as they like, similar to ongoing classes.

In this class, students will go from being beginner guitar players to being able to play songs! This class will focus on chords and rhythm playing and basic music theory. It's very important to me to help students understand their instrument, so that they can unlock the guitar's potential.

Each week of class builds off of the previous week. Instead of trying to cram lots of material into a short amount of time, I plan my lessons so that students master the skills they learn. I teach students a new song every week, with some new skills and some skills that carry over from previous lessons. I choose to do this because in my experience, repetition is key to mastering guitar skills since many of the skills we work on will take more than one week for students to gain full competency.

This class is the first of a series of classes. Once you complete level 1, you can enroll in level 2 to keep learning!

Week 1
- Parts of the guitar
- How to tune your guitar
- String names
- Basic strumming and how to use a guitar pick
- Learn to play "Woman I'm Hollerin'" by Angelica Garcia

Week 2
- Learn new guitar chords
- Learn correct strumming rhythm and technique
- Learn about music theory to understand chords
- Learn to play "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Week 3
- Learn to play "Two Tickets To Paradise" by Eddie Money
- Learn a new strum pattern
- Learn how to count rhythm

Week 4
- Learn to play "Bad Moon Rising" by CCR
- Learn a new strum pattern
- Learn about chords in keys

Please note that what is taught for each lesson is subject to flexibility. By the end of the class I will have covered all topics listed; however, I may cover more or less per lesson depending on how students respond to the material. My goal is to make sure the students leave each lesson fully understanding what was taught and feeling confident to apply the lesson to their individual practicing.

Please also note that in order to see results, students need to commit to 1 hour minimum of practice time 5-6 days a week, if not every day.

REFUND POLICY
- Full refunds are offered for 24h notice that a student cannot attend class.
- Refunds are not offered for missed classes without 24h notice.
- Reschedule options are only available for 24h notice. Please note that reschedule availability depends on the teacher's schedule at the time, which fluctuates from week to week.
