Class Experience
The aim is for the students to - 1. Understand the main points of clear speech on familiar matters. 2. Enter into conversation, express personal opinions and exchange information on familiar subjects of personal interest or related to everyday life. 3. Demonstrate a sufficient range of language to describe experiences and events and give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. Communicative skills • Handle interruptions or requests for clarification • Take control over the interaction • Maintain the discourse by asking for information and making comments • Help the discussion along by inviting comment • Take and give up turns when appropriate • Where appropriate to the individual task, make use of the language functions • Share responsibility for the maintenance of the interaction • In case of a breakdown in communication, show awareness and take basic steps to remedy it Language functions • Talking about past events • Talking about future plans and intentions • Expressing comparisons • Expressing preferences • Describing manner and frequency Phonology • The correct pronunciation of vocabulary specific to the topic and subject areas • Avoidance of speech patterns of recitation • The use of contractions where appropriate • Stress and intonation patterns for words, short sentences and simple question
Most of my teaching background is in EFL instruction to the K12 age group, which I've done in class, online and in summer camps for the last eight years! I have also been creating courseware for EnglishToGo for three years, with the vision to provide students with exceptional classes, as well as learning methods. My TEFL is a 120 hr course done in-class with the WORLD TEFL ASSOCIATION. I have a Bachelors degree in Management and music, as well as various certificates, and I am currently studying online courses in communication and rhetorical studies.
Depending on the students needs and interests some materials may be required. They will however be sent digitally from me for no cost.
Students will be assessed informally. At any point in the course if a student is doing particularly well in an area, or if they are having difficulties with anything, I will inform parents.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be advised that the class involves some movement. This will mainly be small movements such as moving hands, but could involve movements such as turning around in a circle or jumping. Please be aware of potential hazards, and injuries that can occur, if not properly supervised.
