Course Overview: Over 6 weeks, beginners will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing with a focus on reading music notation on the first three strings and playing easy songs. This course will help you develop the skills needed to read standard music notation and apply this knowledge to playing simple melodies and songs. What Topics Will You Cover? Holding and Tuning the Guitar Proper posture and hand positioning How to tune your guitar accurately Reading Music Notation on the First Three Strings Understanding the staff, clefs, and note values Learning the notes on the first three strings (E, B, G) Playing Simple Melodies Reading and playing simple melodies from music notation Practice exercises to reinforce note reading skills Introduction to Easy Songs Applying your notation reading skills to play easy songs Techniques for smooth transitions between notes Course Structure Each class will be structured to progressively build on previous lessons. We'll start with basic concepts and gradually introduce more complex techniques. The class will consist of practical demonstrations, exercises, and playing songs. Teaching Method I will teach through a combination of demonstration, explanation, and practice. The approach includes: Demonstrations: Showing proper techniques for holding, tuning, and playing the guitar. Explanation: Clearly explaining musical concepts and notation. Practice: Providing exercises for students to practice both in class and at home. Interaction and Support Learners will have ample opportunity to interact with me and each other. This will include: Demonstrations and Explanations: Clear guidance on techniques and musical concepts. Practice Sessions: Individual feedback during practice sessions. Group Discussions: Sharing techniques and addressing challenges together. Q&A Sessions: Time set aside for students to ask questions and seek clarification.
Learning Goals

I will teach my students to read music and find notes on the guitar in a very easy and accessible way. This is the simplest method that ensures every student, regardless of age or experience, can learn to play the guitar. The ultimate goal is for them to feel connected to music.
